Timothy Egan on why Trump is such a problem ....nicely written, even funny.

Trump Is the Poison His Party Concocted

Now, the only way to trump Trump is to act like a fool in public. So Senator Rand Paul, formerly seen raising good questions about national issues, fired up a chain saw and took it to the tax code a few days ago — a pathetic stunt. And there was Senator Lindsey Graham, flummoxed by Trump’s exposing him as sycophant to a plutocrat, destroying his cellphone in a blender. It only made us long for the real thing: Dan Aykroyd’s Bass-O-Matic.

I have enjoyed much of Egan's non-fiction. His fiction, not so much (The Winemaker's Daughter).

of what the Republicans have been doing for the last 40 years. He openly says what they all think.

May he have a nice long run embarrassing the Repukes.

his articulateness and succinctness. I think he says it quite well: the GOP is Frankenstein, and Trump the monster they created.

Go get 'em, Karma.

but I think he runs this weird campaign to make
every other candidate look moderate and acceptable, and if he stays
in the race long enough, that is exactly what may
happen.

he loves the attention as well as the idiots'
adoration. He can afford to do this for the
fun of messing around with the GOP.

But the result is as Egan points out, he is a huge embarrassment to the Republicans and is muddying the message, which can only help in the long run.
I AM hoping he is also spending his own money on this vanity stunt.
