My Morning Jacket Backs Roger Waters At Newport Folk Festival

Talk about an all-star collaboration!

Immediately following My Morning Jacket's set at the legendary Newport Folk Festival, the band was joined by none other than legendary Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters! After a handful of MMJ songs, including some choice selections from the band's new album The Waterfall, Waters appeared with his touring guitarist G.E. Smith.
They opened the set with an unknown new song, before diving into The Wall classic "Mother". Waters played acoustic guitar for the entirety of the set (excluding the new intro song, where he played piano), playing songs from solo and Pink Floyd material spanning his career.
This wasn't the first time that Waters and Jim James & co have crossed paths. MMJ backed Waters at the Love for concert in 2012, playing a beautiful rendition of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". They also performed together during the grand finale, joining in for versions of "Wide River To Cross" and "The Weight".

Also Bob Dylan's famous electric guitar, made an appearance this year at Newport as well.

Rejecting the crap on offer "for them" and raiding parents' (& grandparents') record collections.

The guy who owns the new record shop in my town says he can't keep Trout Mask Replica in stock longer than a week before some kid comes in and buys it.

Amused To Death was just reissued and it's more relevant now than it's ever been. Amazing album and a full scale, Floyd-ish tour would give it legendary status.
