3. I live on the edge of homelessness myself

Stuck in a job that is quickly being destroyed by Uber, I am an illness or slow couple weeks away from being out on the streets as well.

To think that I would get more help as someone who just wants to blank out my problems with intoxication than I would as someone who is trying to get back into a sheltered, socially productive situation is absolutely heartbreaking.

7. I've been homeless several times in my life, living in my car. Hard way to live.

I hope things turn around for you soon, FP.

I wonder if the "honesty" about buying drugs and booze was caused more people to donate. Just very sad.

2. I have to say, I'd probably do the same.

It looks like he's exploiting that little girl. Using children to beg on the streets doesn't move me. I'd call CPS before donating a dollar.

Somebody saying outright and honest that I want drugs ... just the novelty would inspire me.

That woman that gave her last dollars to him... now that is empathy. Empathy - sorely lacking too often in today's society.
