We are seeing the Foxification of MSNBC. Losing Ed Schultz is the most obvious symptom. Surprisingly Maddow and Chris Hays will remain. Still the progressive message is being diminished. Also progressive talk shows are disappearing just in time for the RW hate media to flourish in 2016.
Working in the US is moving toward slavery and misery. Workers are being told they do not have any rights nor do they deserve any. And too many are buying into the idea. And anti union rhetoric and attacks are rising by the day.

(54,770 posts)1. I think it is more about very poor ratings, although the time slot contributes some.

I really liked Ed's show while george war bush was in office, Olbermann too. But, after bush was gone, I grew a little tired of both.
I still watched. In fact, I bet I have Ed's show on in background 80% of time. My biggest problem with him is he really doesn't know the facts a lot of times. I support most of his conclusions, but he really confuses the facts in his rants.
I get there are a lot of threats to jobs, the great recession has been rough on just about everyone, and we have a long way to go. But, actually, I think things are getting better -- if slowly.
We recently had new Overtime policies pushed by Obama that will help a lot of people, new minimum wage laws around the country, more and more companies are changing leave policies, etc.
But, there is no denying that technology and other factors will make life unsettling for a long time.

(620 posts)3. His ratings were better than Chris Hayes for All In when he had the 8pm slot.
Then they moved him to the weekend for no good reason.
They also got rid to Cenk and replaced him with an administration stooge.
