Poll: Jeb! opened his dumb mouth about Medicare. Consequences ?

Just curious. I think it cost him the election (if he gets the nomination, which I think he will).

1. The republican base will have no big problem with what he said.

They can spin it to look "conservative". Ryan is a right wing darling and he talks about that sort of thing all the time.

In the general election, it won't have a big enough impact to change the results. If jeb! is the nominee, Faux will spin it for him.

They may be crazy enough to vote for his sorry ass, but few others will.

It will be a very close election if jeb! is the republican nominee.

Besides, it is not as if he is trying to campaign on the center at the moment.

...the MSM will use his statements as an opportunity to print stirring clickbait headlines like "How Broken Are Entitlements?" and "Are Your Taxes Paying For Deadbeat Medical Expenses?"

.... at all. So far, he's done nothing but rhetorically trip on his own dingus over and over. He simply proves it doesn't take much to be the "smart Bush".

8. This is a key issue to the Koch Brothers and so the eventual GOP nominee will be stuck with it

Jeb came out in favor of this issue to pander to the Kochs and I predict that the eventual GOP nominee will also have to support this issue

along with other countless moronic statements he's made.

Thing is, you watch old Jeb and his think tank put major spin on that statement if he gets the nod. "Phase out" can be pretty open-ended, especially if it's followed by an explanation like "Phase out ... in favor of medical savings accounts (or some other bullshit). But that's exactly what I expect their response to be. So ...

Will it cost him the election? Or not? I think it's up to the Democratic challenger, whoever she or he is.

If the DNC and our candidate drop this issue, the voting public will mostly forget about it.
