Dozens of people spoke on both sides of the issue on Tuesday. Mayor Paul Woodson even moved the public comment portion of the meeting to the beginning because of the large number of people wishing to speak.
Just before the meeting started in Salisbury, something happened in the North Carolina General Assembly that may make all of the talk about removing the monument a moot point. After two days of heated debate, the House gave final approval to a bill that would require legislative approval to move any public monument, including memorials linked to the Confederacy ...
