Why is the US media so pro-Israel?

The debate around the Iran deal is ridiculous.

The media is portraying this as Obama's unilateral deal with Iran. They're portraying him as somehow out of the mainstream.

This is a deal between 6 world powers (France, UK, US, Germany, Russia, China) and Iran.

This is not an Obama deal. It's a multilateral deal between major countries. If anyone is out of the mainstream, it's Israel and the GOP.

Also, the UN Security Council just voted overwhelmingly for the deal.

The world supports this deal, yet if you follow the American media, you would think that Obama has gone rogue and struck a deal with Iran all on his own.

The misinformation is being fed to Americans in copious amounts.

You really don't have the opportunity to read/hear what really is going on in Israel until you leave the US. `

Israel has a very strong political influence in the US. The media is afraid to get labeled as anti-Semitic or to offend a very powerful political bloc.

One of them though is that we find it a lot easier to identify with Israel - a democracy made up of Jewish people. Compared to that, the rest of the middle east looks pretty alien to us.

I do find it a constant source of annoyance though that the same views that you can express in Israel about the problems caused by the Conservatives in Israel are often not permitted on our airwaves.

I thought that it was the other way around. Usually, I notice that the major news outlets
are pretty pro- muslim. Am I wrong?

ie you don't go to jail for tearing up a holy book, gays aren't thrown in jail, women are not forced into burkas/veils by either law or society at large (except for Haredim), their "free democracy" rating on Freedom House, and mixed economy with more than one sector, are seen as more respectable than the closed backwards neighbors they deal with.
