66% of Scots want to stay in the EU, 51% of English want to leave it.

A majority of Scots want the UK to remain in the European Union while voters in England are in favour of leaving, according to a poll.

A Panelbase poll for the Sunday Times found 51% of people in England support leaving the institution while 66% of those in Scotland want to remain in the EU.

If liberal Scotland were to become independent from the rest of the UK, the UK would easily pass the referendum to withdraw from the EU. Scotland would then want to join as a new country. Scotland only has 1 member of Parliament from the Conservative party out of its 59 MP's it sends to the parliament.

The Tories would have an even more solid hold on power in the UK if Scotland's liberal voters were removed from the equation.
