Three perfectly good substitutes for the phrase "corporate whore" -- for people who would prefer

not to offend many (but admittedly not all) progressive women and men.

Corporate lackey.

Corporate flunky.

Corporate toady.

Any others you would suggest?

ON EDIT:

Several others have suggested the phrase "corporate shill." Another good choice. As is "sellout."

We need to back off. It's OK to call males corporate whores, but we have a woman in the race, and use of the word whore is too easily misunderstood. I am being serious here, not sarcastic. For a change.

Is some of that because of the historical usage of whore- 100% yes-

Can ALL people use it without being misogynistic "think Mark Levin", of course not-

Will it be used in the future-
yep

Will there be 200+ threads again-

What a dictionary won't tell you is what the connotations of a word are. And the word "whore" carries nasty associations with females who sell their bodies -- that first definition.

Even though a term like corporate shill, toady, or sellout gets the meaning across without the misogyny.

I do use insulting phrases (probably more than I should) ... but see no reason (and have no desire to) use phrases that are gender, racial, sexual orientation, ethnic ... slurs.

I see words that evoke painful or hateful images as having no part in a civil or welcoming environment.

I can't think of any words that express that. It is not just the selling of body (sex) but the selling of your principles.

I'm not going to use the word but I recall it being in regular use on DU2 to define certain ones in the media, corporations and politics. I don't remember anyone getting too upset by its use. I suppose someone attributed this word to Ms. Clinton.

From Dictionary.com

Informal. a person who betrays a cause, organization, or the like; traitor.
4.
Informal. a person who compromises his or her personal values, integrity, talent, or the like, for money or personal advancement.

I have heard that word and prostitute used my whole life to describe someone who abandons their principles. i.e. an artist who forgos his/her art to seek after fame and or fortune has prostituted their art. It bothers me that we are in danger of limiting the broad range of words because some can't get past one definition.

What started all this foofaraw, and would it have caused so much turmoil if it had been directed at a man, say Trump?

Which is exactly why it is especially nasty when it is applied to female politicians.
