NJ.com Poll: Did Trump wreck his campaign by saying McCain isn't war hero?

First he went on an anti-immigrant tirade, branding Mexicans in this country rapists, drug pushers, and criminals in generals.

That xenophobic rant seemed to propel Donald Trump to the top of the polls in the Republican presidential sweepstakes. But then on Saturday, the real estate mogul and former reality-TV star seemed to cross a line that not even some of his staunchest supporters could stomach.

outrageous. It's all just red meat to the base, and the R base votes, so he didn't hurt his campaign at all.

But he surely hurt himself and the Republican Party among the general population.

He didn't generate much excitement on his own, and I was surprised how much better Romney did.

Trump is Romney on steroids.
