Reddit allows racist community to survive. Racists celebrate

Reddit is embroiled in a new controversy after a crackdown on harmful and illegal content did not include a notorious racist community.

Steve Huffman, one of Reddit's co-founders who took charge of the popular website last week when Ellen Pao resigned following a series of controversies, laid out the new rules on the website last night.

"As Reddit has grown, we've seen additional examples of how unfettered free speech can make Reddit a less enjoyable place to visit, and can even cause people harm outside of Reddit," Huffman said, highlighting a ban on non-consensual pornography after private photos of several celebrities were shared on Reddit.

Huffman said he would ban illegal activity, publishing private information, harassment bullying and abuse, and "anything that incites harm or violence against an individual or group of people".
