"Active Shooter" Incident at Navy Recruiting Center TN

One Chattanooga Police officer has been injured in an incident that happened at the Naval Recruitment Center near Riverside Park and Amnicola Highway.

Mayor Andy Berke tweeted, "Horrific incident in our community. We will release details as they are confirmed. Prayers to all those affected." Berke confirmed to CNN that one officer has been hurt. Right now we don't know the extent of the officer's injuries.

The U.S. Navy tweeted they are investigating the incident.

A Binswanger glass employee nearby confirms to NewsChannel 9 that police told him that they are working on investigating an "active shooter" in the area.

A student at Chattanooga State has confirmed to NewsChannel 9 that the school has been locked down.

Police shut down Amnicola Highway and officers were redirecting traffic from the area.

NewsChannel 9's Drew Bollea is near the scene, near the Coca-Cola plant.

Drew reports that he heard about a half-dozen shots in rapid succession.

The city police department said that the "active shooter situation" was over a couple of hours after the incident began. "Details forthcoming," the department said in a tweet.

"There have been several shootings at several different locations," said Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman John Harmon, whose agency was helping local law enforcement.

"We've got an officer down," Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke told reporters, calling it a "very terrible situation."

The guy shoots up the first place.

Cops arrive and he takes off to the 2nd place with the cops in pursuit! 15 minutes apart. Cops had to be EVERYWHERE at this point, no?

How does he get off so many shots WITH THE COPS RIGHT THERE?

All the dead marines are at the 2nd location.
