My "WTF?" of the day, EMT's leave girl having an an aneurysm to die...

Fortunately a relative got her to the hospital in time.

FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOV.com) -
An investigation is underway after a witness claimed EMTs left a teenager who suffered a brain aneurysm at a parking lot in Florissant.

Charlotte Munns said her 18-year-old daughter, Debbie, experienced severe headache pains while driving along Linbergh Boulevard. The teen reportedly collapsed after pulling into an auto shop parking lot. Doctors later diagnosed her with a brain aneurysm.

Eyewitness Mark Gillette said he called 911, but when paramedics arrived, they only stood by.

Gillette said the emergency crew gave the teen a vomit bag, discussed the cost of an ambulance ride to the hospital, and then left the scene.

"They could see the young lady was face down throwing up, not being able to talk," said Gillette. "Why didn't they take her? That shocked me."

"I don't know what the procedures are, but I don't think you just leave somebody if they need help," said Munns.

A relative reportedly drove the teen to a nearby hospital, instead.

Munns said her daughter is no longer in ICU after undergoing two surgeries.

The Florissant Valley Fire Department said it will investigate these claims.

unnoticed. On the back page of some local newspaper, but this is such a WTF. Hopefully as communications continue to improve creeps like this apparent EMT team will be gone.

Even though I think too many people are in jail already. I say let go of one hundred or so pot smokers to make some room.

blockage--i.e., a temporary stroke)--in 2005, I didn't call for an ambulance. It was early July, so all my neighbors and in-town friends were gone (college town). I ended up calling a friend in Overland Park (about 40 minutes away) for a ride to the ER, because I knew that back then an ambulance would cost $1000-$2000 beyond insurance coverage, and I could not afford it.

Similarly, when I needed a late night ride to the ER in April of this year, I called a friend for help because the ambulance would cost so much, though I undoubtedly needed an ambulance. But since I now have about $4000 in bills for an ER visit, a 3-day hospital stay, and 2 back-to-back surgeries, I am very glad I didn't add a couple of thousand dollars more to the total!

But I resent like heck that I have to be afraid to call an ambulance when I really need one.

Did you know that if they take you by helicopter it is about 17,000? I know someone who needed it and that's what they charged and were paid.

my hospital cap was $2000, so I was surprised to owe so much after insurance coverage was figured for my hospital sray and surgeries.

My BIL was charged 40,000 for a 20 minute life flight, in Cal. last year.
Don't remember how much he had to pay out of pocket.

She is not bad physically, but mentally she has a few problems, for instance her memory is not too clear.

I hope this young lady recovers, but she can expect years of some problems.

I doubt little Biff or Betsy would be left on the asphalt.

Ironic, knowing that in the suburbs, drunken teens Buff or Betsy would be fairly unsurprising.
