Wake Up, Sheeple! The Military Exercise That Drove Texas Insane Is Finally Here

The multi-state U.S. military training exercise dubbed "Jade Helm 15," which has spawned myriad conspiracy theories and vexed public officials who struggled to allay the concerns of constituents, is finally here.

The "unconventional warfare" exercise is scheduled to begin Wednesday and run until Sept. 15. Training is planned for certain areas of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida. California, Colorado and Nevada had originally been listed as areas where the training was to take place but have since been left out.

Conspiracy theory websites and InfoWars' Alex Jones suggested that the operation could be a cover for the implementation of martial law. One site even alleged that troops were converting shuttered Wal-Mart stores into covert military bases. But the paranoia surrounding "Jade Helm 15" really became headline news in May, after enough concerned Texans convinced Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to take action to protect their civil liberties. Abbott requested that the State Guard monitor the training exercise, asserting that the move was only meant to facilitate communication between the military and residents of the Lone Star state.

Outlandish theories about "Jade Helm 15" are likely to continue to proliferate in the coming weeks. As The Washington Post reported, the military has decided not to allow media to observe the exercise, which curtails efforts to better explain the training exercise to the public. In that information vacuum, a citizen surveillance group calling itself "Counter Jade Helm" has sprung up with plans to monitor the operation for any potential funny business.

Not insane as to grabbing guns (not ones who have told me this theory) but one was studying for a constitution "about to come" which IIRC based on brief video showed to me on a phone called for "preemptive prosecutions" against "terrorists". WTF? Also said it was Russia and China sneaking it on us.

On edit -- if Jade Helm 15 is rule simply the training exercise is real I do think there is a reason behind it but certainly not taking our guns away, targeting Utah & Texas as "hostile states", internment camps & certainly not in hell stockpile Chinese or Russia weapons but considering how prominent this conspiracy theory is there is some organization & push behind it meaning there is a goal to have the public believing this to do something else outside our borders.

I live in Mesa, Arizona. I'm telling you or people this was what people here are saying that first the plan is to come for the guns, build internment camps, that Russia and China are sneaking it on us, to install Obama as dictator. I tell them it doesn't make sense by trying to explain the defense industry and the arms trafficking so they wouldn't be pushing this and try to explain other complex matters to say it doesn't make sense but they don't understand me either.

So could you please tell me what you need help so I can explain it better as I'm using English words?

On edit -- On the second paragraph I do think the US military wouldn't be doing this without a reason but I don't think it is the reason that the right wing conspiracies as they don't make sense but there is an organized effort on the talk radio circuits to have the public believing this so I'm not sure why the GOP want the public buying into it.

Does that make it any clearer?

Your post above is confusing. You are not clear. Just proof read it, OK? Make sure it sounds like it would sound if you and I were across the table from each other.

And FWIW, the US Military has been holding exercises inside the lower 48, and in Hawaii and Alaska too, for that matter, for DECADES. So of course it isn't the reason the CT'ers want to think it is. The GOP likes anything that makes Obama look like a boogyman to the great unwashed. That's their base, right? Morons.

Hell, one of the largest military exercises in the world happens every year in Nevada, but you don't hear the people of Las Vegas complaining that they are being invaded by pilots from Turkey.

As I said in my post below, if a white guy were President, Texans would be all happy and patriotic and stuff.

On edit -- I know you weren't clear. I wish I was able to say that more clearly rather than say the word "missing". By missing, I meant to be asking what parts or what wasn't clear to you so I am able to understand what it is so I can try to clarify.

because I'm often misunderstood "across the table" and trying to clarify misunderstandings creates more & more misunderstandings but a lot of that has to do with the wrong assumptions people make as to why I'm saying what I'm saying.

I get on myself for not proof-reading as the text box isn't as clear to me (I just can't see how it looks as well as I can as finished post) but after so many thousands of posts it is too much of a drilled habit to hit "post my reply" and unless I leave the thread for hours I usually spot them so I'll take your suggestion, apologize for not being clear, and do the once more again. I'll preview when I think I have a solid reason to (I probably won't proof-read this post)

FWIW I served in the military. I drove convoy missions to Portland and through the "Cascade Loop" which scared the hell out of me to Yakima which where he we did our pre-deployment FTX. I drove 18,000+ miles through Iraq & Kuwait. I know the drill. When one of the believers was telling me or airborne training in Texas I brought up we do that in Italy in Alaska. I'm curious behind it in the sense of what I don't support much if at all what the military or defense does outside our borders (military is not as much as a presence as you may think as contractors run the show)

Considering that I live in the "most conservative city of 250,000+" I often feel like venting here. As the OP is about what they believe which is why I choose to say the things they were saying. I wouldn't say they are morons in the sense as they know things that they know but when it comes to this they fall for it.

But my husband has a friend who has been quizzing him and getting him to look up online information about a whole house generator. (Friend is not tech savvy, so has asked my husband for information help.). It seems that this guy's wife apparently listens to a lot of conservative news and maybe talk radio. She has gotten herself worked up into a frenzy over some kind of conspiracy stuff. She insists some kind of "take-over" is in the works. I don't know the details....just that she is upset and worried. So worried that they are preparing to spend thousands of dollars on a whole house generator...upwards of $10,000 for everything she wants installed.

They live in Northwest FL in the Pensacola metropolitan area....but they are in a rural area with lots of acreage and they have horses. So they do have the ability to be self sufficient
If need be.

These people are extremely religious and moved to this area from NJ after attending the "Brownsville Revival" several years ago. Sold everything and relocated so they could be a part of that...now defunct...event. So doing something rash and costly is not new for them.

It is disconcerting to realize there are people that convinced that something apocalyptic is about to happen. No amount of reasoning or rational talk gets through to them. Makes me wonder how many others are out there quietly building a bunker, fully stocked with rations.....

... and I have to admit also my second and third, but I'm not proud of it. I shouldn't be laughing at people with mental problems.

However, the next time the Texans start talking about succeeding from the Union we ought to give serious thought to letting them do so, peacefully. With Texas no longer a factor in national elections, no Republican would occupy the White House for the foreseeable future, not that they have much of a chance anyway unless they take their Party back for the Tea Partiers.
