Redditors' wish granted: CEO gone

Reddit's interim CEO Ellen Pao has resigned. Co-founder and former CEO Steve Huffman will replace her.

Pao, who became interim CEO in November 2014, said the decision to step down was mutual after conversations with the board regarding how fast Reddit could grow its user base.

Before joining Reddit, Pao gained recognition for filing a lawsuit against Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, one of Silicon Valley's most recognizable venture capital firms. She accused the firm of gender discrimination and retaliation in a case that spotlighted sexism in Silicon Valley and lifted the curtain on the tech industry's boy's club. Pao lost the case and is currently appealing.

Her departure from Reddit comes on the heels of a series of events that left Reddit users calling for her resignation.

Which would be really interesting. The Reddit community has long despised Pao for a variety of reasons. But in this case, she may not have been entirely at fault for Victoria's ouster. To think, she may have gone down in flames for the one thing she didn't do.

(Although, as CEO, I assume she would have had to agree with Ohanian's decision)

4. Oh, that IS interesting. And it seems really stupid to fire the one person who does the AMAs.

That is one of Reddit's best features, IMO.
My grandson says that firing Victoria was just one thing - he says that the moderating got weird, people were taking sub-reddits private, and that Pao installed a new search engine that really really sucked, and a number of moderators were fired. I don't know the specifics. Sounds like she was Fiorina-ing Reddit
