When Texas was talking about seceding from the Union...

...we had many DUers that said, "let them go". In fact, let all those stupid knuckle-draggers in the South go.

I wonder if they would have supported South Carolina seceding in 1861?

Just a thought...

South Carolina wanted to secede in 1861 to keep its slaves.

Texas wants to secede I guess to keep the atheists or socialists or whatever out.

The big push of McClellan and Northern Democrats in the 1864 campaign was for a negotiated peace.

But the biggest and most obvious difference is that whatever some idiot in Texas says today about secession is bullshit bravado and not worth anyone's time, while the situation in South Carolina in 1861 was a little different.

We're still a long way from a more perfect union.

Would the country had been better off if Lincoln had not been provoked by the South and had looked for a non-military resolution?
