A Wayne County spokeswoman told WJBK that according to department rules employees aren't allowed to possess a weapon on work property.
Just two years shy of retirement... that'll save the state some money.

(2,282 posts)The guy who found/turned in the gun should be reinstated immediately. All the people involved in (1) creating the silly ass zero tolerance rules, and (2) firing the guy should be immediately fired themselves and stripped of all pensions...and for good measure have their pictures posted around town calling them out for the idiots they are.
A similar thing happened a few years back to an acquaintance of a friend. The daughter (honor student) was expelled from school for having a weapon. The weapon was a swiss army knife in a first aid kit, in the trunk of her car.
