(72,790 posts)Everything is so expensive, taxes are outrageous, and I don't feel like I'm getting what I should for my tax dollars. CT wastes and misuses money.

(442 posts)States like Texas and Washington being given big boosts for a lack of taxes.
Those of us who live in liberal states, with higher taxes (at least some of us) gladly pay extra for the benefits it affords us and our states. I consider my state a "better place to make a living" because we have better public schools, better public transportation infrastructure, more enforced workplace benefits, larger union presence, nicer parks & roads, etc. You know, things that make for "living" life, not hoarding money.
This article could be better phrased as the best states to try and funnel away money from the government, if that's your thing...

(442 posts)But I've lived there and it's pretty conservative in a lot of respects as well. But that's not the point. They can't manufacture metrics that would be biased against all blue states because there's too much diversity, but when you look at those lists and read the article you can see the bias clear as day.
The most liberal states in the country, like Oregon, Vermont, California, Maine, Connecticut all on the worst list...
Look where people are actually moving to in large numbers and it's certainly not Michigan, Utah, Virginia, Illlinois, etc.
