According to the guy's lawyer, the woman kneed him in the groin at some point prior to that punch. You can't really see that (at least I can't) in the video. I would certainly hope that anyone who committed assault faced charges.

In some jurisdictions flaunting a fist in someone's face is considered a threat and one is not obligated to wait to be hit without trying to stop it. He tried to stop it by holding her wrist

We'll see how it plays out as she then kneed and punched him before he retaliated with a harder punch.

Neither is completely innocent. I suspect there will be charges against her too at some point now that the video has gone viral.
