(53,782 posts)If so, the woman must be dense.
Why even go there with the "brownface" after what she just went through.
Second chances can be merited but third chances not so much, and not likely if this is true.

(15,805 posts)but evidently they did this racist skit to be shown on her TV show... how's that for a job killer!
I don't know why her idiot son agreed to pose in brownface, but I'm waiting to see how many "come back" shows she gets this time.

(3,290 posts)those are Jim Crows. Seems like they might just fit in with the prevailing attitude. Something about a leopard and not changing spots.

(25,053 posts)God knows we've seen more racism in the news lately than her uneducated remark years ago. She's a cook, from the South and of that culture. I don't give a fuck for anything about her than her fun cooking style. We aren't punishing any of the yahoos running on the right for their un-p.c. views so why continue on with this woman?

(4,460 posts)I don't get this one bit. I don't understand what they were trying to express. The brown-face is offensive, however, I don't get why they even needed to go there. If her son, on her right was supposed to personify Desi, it's just all wrong. Desi was always impeccably dressed in a suit, with every hair in place. And he wasn't the least bit darked-skinned. Even if he did have darker skin, it wasn't necessary to put on that kind of make-up....clothing and hair would have been enough to make it a good skit.
I never liked PD, she always personified the ugly Southerner, who is rare. I've spent most of my life in the south, and I'm female, white and in my 50s. Guess what, myself and most of the people I know enjoy fresh veggies, grilled meat and fish. We don't fry everything, we don't have big hair, and our accents aren't very distinct.
