Experiencing an outbreak of Red Admiral butterlies in southern WI

Between the house down the gravel drive, and not quite 1/4 mile to the stop sign I'm seeing evidence of a population explosion.

It started the end of last week with a couple dozen, today in the distance named above it was probably a couple hundred.

Getting out of the car and into the house is like a Disney scene with butterflies fluttering everywhere.

I don't carry a smartphone or camera so this is a picture from wikipedia.

Anyone else?

5. Yeah, it's pretty cool. They look like pterodactyls when they're flying.

It's great watching them grow up. They're here every year raising their little one from April until like November.

We have a Facebook page of photos for our city and people have been posting photos of a butterfly similar to the one you show here, as well as many other types I've never seen before.

They are beautiful. Hopefully, they are also beneficial.

The same species you posted a picture of. They really are everywhere this year!

Glad my wife and I aren't the only ones noticing it
