From Rebuild The Dream: Tell Sallie Mae to work with student loan borrowers, not against.

Hi,

Have you ever heard of Sallie Mae? They're the nation's largest student lender -- and they aren't as sweet and innocent as their name suggests.

Sallie Mae doesn't have affordable alternative repayment plans available for student borrowers who can't afford to make their monthly payments in full. Sallie Mae told one borrower to sell his blood plasma to make his loan payments. Even worse, they're legally allowed to call and harass borrowers up to 8 times each day -- which they often take advantage of.

It's time to hold Sallie Mae's feet to the fire and demand that they work with students to come up with new repayment plans when they cannot afford their payments. Making offensive suggestions and harassing customers is no way to run a business.

that I pay my rent late so I could make a payment to them instead. This was only a few months ago, by the way. Needless to say, I told the woman on the other end of the line to kiss my ass.
