We got an accurate head count on turkeys today

We started driving to the store. Only 1/2 a block away before the park the motorcyclist in front of us stopped. Then we saw 3 momma turkeys with 12 little babies running to keep up. No chance to get a phone out for video or pictures.

They are the group eating on the other side of our back fence. We give them bread, corn, and seeds. Now that the babies are a little larger I trimmed down some of the plants in the area to make it easier to see them.

We have one mom and five babies that live in the woods behind the house. We also have a nice big Tom that likes to call out around 5:30 in the morning...I'm not so fond of him but he is a beauty.

We have had good rains this year so the wildlife is doing well. Plenty of bay geese this year here. I love how they line up to cross the roads!

It's actually a recreation of the events in the book but it's still great. The book's events happened near Tallahassee in the Apalachicola National Forest. The documentary was filmed in south central Florida.
