She opened up with a love fest with Joe Lioeberman. Then she had L.A.Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on the air and gave him nothing but a hard time, accusing Obama of folding on gay marriage because of Biden and then she said that Obama staffers were "trashing" Biden behind the scenes. Villaraigosa seemed to take exception to her colorful choice of verbs, indicating we don't know the facts. Moments later, Mitchell interviewed some right wing hack and agreed 100% with him, never challenging him. She had a look of disgust on her face when she played Obama's new ad where Romney's Bain shenanigans are described as the work of a vampire. Her right wing nut said that's divisive and anti-capitalist. She could have challenged him by asking how it's divisive if Santorum and Perry were accusing Romney of the same thing.
Mitchell has become the most extremist right wing host on MSNBC, worse than Buchannan, worse than Scarborough, because somehow she still enjoys a reputation as an objective journalist.
She needs to go. I can't find an e-mail address for MSNBC or I would have posted this gripe to them instead of here.

(82,849 posts)I suppose if your definition of capitalism is "I stole my money fair and square, so fuck you," then, yeah, call me anti-capitalist, too.

(10,893 posts)I know she has thrown a few hardballs at Mayor Villaraigosa and people from the Obama camp. But it would seem farfetched in my opinion for a righty to be on a commercial that is anti-voter ID, and her commercial about women in the workplace. Voter ID laws are a right-wing policy, while feminism...not so much.

(21,925 posts)and appears to be in the Romney camp. Her show has always involved hardballs for liberals (which is good journalism) and softalls to conservatives (which is not) but this morning when she basically agreed with everything her right wing guest said about Obama being divisive and anti-capitalist took her right wing hackery to a brand new level.

(27,787 posts)She did not qualify that statement with "some see their marriage as a sacrament" ... she said "marriage IS a sacrament".
She's a RW tool.

(21,925 posts)A lot of liberals on blogs find it deceptive. Mitchell accuses "parties and interest groups" of trying to suppress the vote, as though both parties are doing it when we all know it's just the Republicans.

(10,893 posts)I originally thought that Andrea worded it that way since she's supposed to be a straight news anchor, and it would look biased for her to state exactly which party is responsible for voter suppression.

(1,362 posts)The TV paradigm of TV news being a place where actual news is reported has long been dead. It was replaced with pure propaganda slowly but surely and now TV only places mouthpieces in front of the cameras to sell viewers an extremist RW view or a corporate LW view.
Read about the progression of propaganda in the United States beginning in the industrial age, around 1900.
