Maine's right-wing governor may get impeachedNYT: "[A charter] school had hired Mark Eves, the Democratic speaker of the House and a LePage foe, as its next president, starting Wednesday. Mr. LePage said Mr. Eves was unfit to lead the school, and threatened to withhold more than $500,000 in annual state money unless the hiring was rescinded ... Representative Jeffrey Evangelos, an independent, was among those who began researching impeachment proceedings last week on the grounds of abuse of authority, misuse of assets and unbecoming conduct."

(3,428 posts)would love to see him impeached. He sounds like Gov. Crispy Creme, but without the "pizzaz."

(15,805 posts)From what I read, LePage is an odious character and the people of Maine would be better served under new management if he finds himself following Perry's footsteps.
Perry also had a beef with a public official and tried to fire the woman in charge of the state's ethics agency. Now he's charged with abuse of power for threatening to cut off funding and coercing a public servant who was investigating his activities. A grand jury has already issued an indictment and Perry's legal team is trying to get the appeals court to throw out the charges, but even the the judge, a Republican, refused.
