http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2012/05/cnns-ashleigh-banfield-plays-lackey-for.html"WTF, CNN? The "news" channel's Ashleigh Banfield today had Ben LaBolt from the Obama campaign on her show. She apparently decided that President Obama's ad about Mitt Romney's Bain Capital profiting off of the misery of bankrupt businesses and laid off workers was a little too potent for her corporate overlords to swallow."

(27,617 posts)1. Politico gave her three Pinocchio's for her performance.
Three Pinocchios for CNN's Banfield
Quick note on that last post: While CNN's Ashleigh Banfield was grilling Obama campaign press secretary Ben La Bolt over the campaign's latest ad -- the anti-Romney, anti-Bain Capital spot -- she said the Washington Post gave the ad "one Pinocchio, which is 'a big fat lie.'"
In fact, the Washington Post's Fact-Checker defines "one Pinocchio" as "Some shading of the facts. Selective telling of the truth. Some omissions and exaggerations, but no outright falsehoods."
And here is what the Fact Checker actually ruled, which Banfield did not mention: "Bain Capital was clearly involved in the companys decisions to greatly add to its debt load decisions that were made while Romney was actively running Bain. That debt load may have contributed to the companys failure to weather a steep decline in steel prices, but it was not the only factor that led to the companys bankruptcy filing. The ad fails to make clear that the Kansas City plant was already facing hard times, and Bain Capitals investment may have represented its best chance for survival."
Lot of gray area here, but far from a "big fat lie." On that point, I give Banfield three Pinocchios.
