(62,276 posts)Ryan put cuts in there to make the Democrats back off of increasing assistance to $175 million and adding in more aid. He takes the cuts out, the Democrats take the original deal (Pelosi messed that one up badly, she knew the Republicans wanted the bill, she could've got a lot more, I can't believe she didn't even fight). Everyone "compromises."

That allows Skinner and Earlg to charge more and more money for ad space, which helps keep DU running. That's why I love you, Manny. You are a great contributer to DU's bottom line.

(24,544 posts)That would be you in the center and the dudes all reacting around him are the rest of us reading that epic and 1000% true pwnage in this thread. The only part I disagree with you on is your second to last line. I certainly don't feel that way about that person and don't know anyone here that does. But if that was sarcasm instead of honesty, then that just makes the pwnage that much sweeter.
Own it. You deserve all the high fives and "ooooooooohhs!" that post will receive. Just own them.

(24,544 posts)The number of vanity and "LOOK AT MEEEEEE!!" OPs had been reduced by at LEAST 12%!
And then all of a sudden GD starts getting encrusted with OPs again from that person. But there was Obama, I mean...TPP slamming to do despite the fact that majorities of Americans support it.
But we know it's not about the TPP and never has been. That person's decision to interrupt this thread does nothing but prove that. Not that there was ever any doubt.
sheshe2
(83,925 posts)msanthrope
(37,549 posts)in that thread you blame President Obama for legislation passed 16 years ago.....claiming that it was part of the TPP.
To the jury...its not against the Terms of Service to refer to prior threads especially when the person is holding themselves out as an expert on a particular matter such as the TPP

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Disruptive bullshit. This guy is being deliberately rude and divisive. And using lies to do it. This is beyond inappropriate.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Jun 27, 2015, 01:43 PM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not lies. The TAA is pretty much ineffective at re-employing people into well paying jobs. Great if you wanna work at McDonalds.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I saw it when it first appeared in the thread. Although many (including myself) might not agree with it, it doesn't call anyone in particular out. It's easy to just ignore. Not really worth deleting.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The alerter should be alerted on. He/she is using the alert process to attack political opponents.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Not so clever trying to use a trade agreement as a wedge issue. The right has abortion and gay rights but the left has nothing sexy and simple to use. Trying to use a random trade agreement is pathetic. Nobody is falling for it.

(7,830 posts)Wow. Its hard to believe this is a forum for people who are into politics, but are ignorant of how there is a separation of power btn the judicial branch of govt & the executive branch.
Obama didn't have a say in their decision, and that is by design.
We're supposed to be the intelligent party....
Btw, here's Obama's stance 7 yrs ago on marriage equality...or should I say, his belief in marriage inequality...
Would you support a constitutional amendment to allow same sex marriage?
Obama: No I would not.

(70,744 posts)What I've said is that I learned from the Bill experience that his type of leader is somebody who gets distracted by his own problems, that he -- AND WE-- have to expend all of our energies in defending *him* instead of using our precious time in power focused on our Democratic agenda. It's fine, whenever we win even if it's a Bill scenario, but in that case the most we can hope for, aside from maintaining with the Defensive game, is the power of nominating thousands of policy bureaucrats down the line and a few judges.
The biggest thing I appreciate about OBAMA is that he has kept away from all the personal baggage stuff and stayed focused even in the face of such extreme obstructionism. And the quote says it totally:
"Im proud that DEMOCRATS are focused on change that matters... the kind of change that will make an impact on peoples lives for decades to come. (11,833 posts)President Obama and his family and Administration have had a very positive impact on me personally as well. I appreciate that he can evolve and understands that inclusiveness can only keep growing. Here's to the Affordable Care Act and here's to all the democrats who say let it be the first step toward universal health care. Here's to the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage, to President Obama's wonderful comments and support, and here's to all the democrats who say let us always struggle for more civil rights. Here's to all the democrats who identify issues like voting rights and wealth inequality and share those issues here. Let us all keep striving for change that matters.
