My mom and I drove to South Carolina

earlier this week. We're visiting my sister, who lives in Columbia

I have not seen a single Confederate flag anywhere, but the American flag is at half mast everywhere - for the victims.

1. I drove across the entire state in eary June.

Ditto.

2. We drove down from NC.

No "stars and bars" anywhere to be seen.

We were looking too - not even a bumper sticker.

if we had seen dozens of flags or had little "racist anecdotes" like some here love to tell, everyone would love that.

But no, nothing to see here folks. Blacks and whites living peacefully right next to one another.

My sister's cul-de-sac neighborhood is about half and half black and white

Makes one wonder if this whole "take down the confederate flag" hoo-ha is really just the overdramatic antics of a handful of die-hard assholes?

5. Well no. I think the flag

should come down, as does everyone I talk to.

But the flag is not ubiquitous here.
