I think will take some real hubris for the Turks to attack them with force, I could see a border closure and embargo.

Erdogan is a tyrant.

Best of luck trying to get Turkey to agree to that. The Iraqi government might have a problem as well.

That's not necessarily the same thing as a "state".

The red-line enclosed area on this map also notably does not include some of the key Kurdish areas of northern Syria where Kurdish fighters have been battling ISIS without much help from western allies.

They are fighting for a muti-ethnic participatory democracy and self governance without particular borders, a system could provide a basis for peace in the war torn areas of Syria and Iraq. Basically they can fight ISIS and replace the vacuum with this system of alternative democracy that they are already using in northern Syria.
