who knew it was that simple. In reality, watch for an explosion of private confederate flag sales and display. In the mean time, gun deaths will continue unabated.

But we can still be glad for progress when we can't get perfection.

And this is progress. The racism won't be quite as casual, pervasive, and in your face. They'll have to work a little harder to collect their symbols of hate. And their 2 minutes of hate fix won't be as quick and cheap as it used to be.

You're also right that there is very likely going to be an explosion of people hanging the confederate flag in front of their house in response. But this is also a good thing; it's like a racism census. You'll know who to avoid, and who not to do business with before they even open their mouth. No flying under the radar now.
