Norway Women's World Cup team brilliantly satirizes sexist bunk

Source: Mashable

Earlier this month, ESPN talking head Stephen A. Smith joked on SportsCenter that a Women's World Cup player failed to defend a goal because she was afraid to "mess up her hair."

Smith was widely ripped online and apologized soon after, but his failed attempt at humor showed the type of sexism — whether seriously or passed off as jokes — that female athletes have to put up with everyday. The Norwegian team at the Women's World Cup, however, is having none of that.

Three members of the Norwegian team worked with journalist Nicolay Ramm to produce the video embedded above, which brilliantly satirizes the belittling criticisms and complaints many women's sports and female athletes get from male sports fans.

If the players all wore facemasks, they wouldn't risk getting their makeup smeared, PLUS it would hide their womanly tears when they lose. Win-win!

H/t to the woman scientist who made a similar comment about the mask she wears to protect her from the fumes in the lab, as part of last week's #DistractinglySexy twitterstorm, and whose comment I shamelessly ripped off.
