1. GOP power elites didn't want to go thru primary season debating the RW ideology behind that flag.

After all, Roof didn't really sound much different than the majority of GOP lawmakers in DC and across the country.

They couldn't find a way to control this debate any more than they could find a way to control Katrina videos.

So….they put up an act that they think will give them time to form their next tactic to get votes - expect it to be an even greater focus on gun control.
