Fox Host: Why Are GOPers Being Asked About Democrats' Confederate Flag?

Fox News host Andrea Tantaros said Monday she didn’t understand why Republican presidential candidates were being “peppered” over the flying of the Confederate flag on the South Carolina state capitol grounds.

Tantaros, co-host of the Fox News show “Outnumbered,” said the flag was flown by southern Democrats and wasn’t “a Republican flag.”

Tantaros made her comments in light of responses GOP presidential candidates such as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and Rick Santorum have given about their take on the potential removal of the flag.

“You know what baffles the mind?” Tantaros said. “This isn't a Republican flag. Historically this was the flag of southern Democrats, remember that, fact?”

“I find this flag offensive,” Tantaros continued. “This flag represents the fight in slavery and it was a flag that the southern Democrats — Democrats — used to fly against Northern Republicans so I’m not sure why Republicans are getting peppered over this.”

Ah hah. I read this very talking point early (like 5:30 a.m.) on CSPAN's FB page on the issue from some regular schlub. I was bewildered reading it but now I see that it's a talking point that was handed off (last night?).

Some righteous Republican lawmaker is going to walk right out to the confederate memorial and tear down that disgusting symbol of Dixiecrat hypocrisy. He or she will then make an indignant speech about how it's high time we bury southern Democratic bigotry, right along with that disgraceful flag. Yep. Gonna happen any minute, now.

if we can seriously discuss the influence of the Dixiecrats in the 40's and 50's, and Nixon's "Southern Strategy" that shifted the racist southern votes into the GOP column, then we're getting somewhere.

if we can talk about how the confederate flag played into Strom Thurmond's (D-->R) campaign strategy in 1948, we're getting somewhere.

of course, this probably won't happen, especially on faux.

Regardless of which party supported it in the past, it still needs to be taken down.

The Republican Party were a tad more progressive in 1900 - early 20th century. One of the reasons why Southern Democrats flipped to the Republican Party was because of Pres. Lyndon Johnson's signing of the Civil Rights law.

The confederate flag and the Democratic Party haven't been on friendly terms with one another for the last 50 years---way back when the Republican Party had some respectable officeholders.

The shit ain't that hard to understand. They asked the governor and they said they were powerless. So people are asking the people in power to at. Do you want your GOP to have power or not Andrea?

Why is the GOP when in power can only bash women and poor but when asked to do simple things they can't do anything but cry about the party not in power.
