Scott Walker Backs Constitutional Amendment To Ban Same-Sex Marriage

I know this is a few weeks old but pertinent now that the SC of the USA will soon make an announcement. ICYMI.
FYI--Walker's Wisconsin is completely controlled by the teabaggers.

WASHINGTON -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said Sunday that he supports a constitutional amendment that would bar the Supreme Court from granting marriage equality rights nationwide.

The Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision this month that could grant, for once and for all, same-sex couples the right to wed across the country. But Walker said on ABC's "This Week" that he would support amending the constitution to protect states that still want to ban same-sex marriage.

"I personally believe that marriage is between one man and one woman," Walker, a prospective GOP presidential candidate, said. "If the court decides that, the only next approach is for those who are supporters of marriage being defined as between one man and one woman is ultimately to consider pursuing a constitutional amendment."

He added that "the decision on defining marriage should be left up to the states.".......

Not a chance in hell an amendment to the constitution would be ratified by all the states necessary. Even if there were, it would take decades.

They don't like us much at all. Yeah, I know there are some "good" republicans now, but they don't have control and only pipe up when directly asked, so they aren't going to go to the mats for us.

it was conditioned hatred, but anymore and based on studies I think it's the way their brains are wired, to be hateful and fearful. I find it all very concerning.

I have no doubt they would turn America into a dystopia given the chance and would use horrific tactics against millions of Americans. What is really also concerning is so many Americans are robots. They just vote republican without any thought given. They are such tools of oppression and persecution against all sorts of people, even against themselves.

many voters today have probably forgotten about him and also, of course, many did not live in those dreadful times. I think a number of the republican presidential hopefuls would bring those times back instantly if elected to the presidency in 2016 with a republican congress.

There are nowhere near the two thirds of the vote in Congress to get it to the states for ratification, much less the three quarters of states necessary to pass it.

We should start an amendment to prohibit people with bad posture, pot bellies, a lazy eye, and a prominent bald spot from running for president.

A constitutional amendment required ratification by 38 of the 50 states.

Enough states already have marriage equality via legislation to make ratification impossible.

For a general overview os marriage equality see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage_law_in_the_United_States_by_state

I have been saying for months the SCOTUS will uphold marriage equality 6-3 and that will be that. State constitutions cannot override the US Constitution.
