-----------------
Hillary Clinton is planning to visit the Ferguson, Missouri, area on Tuesday and deliver remarks in the shadow of a city scarred by the fatal shooting of an unarmed black 18-year-old by a white police officer.
The Democratic presidential contender is due to make a campaign stop in Florissant, a suburb of St Louis that neighbors Ferguson, where the death of Michael Brown last August led to months of protests and reopened a national debate on race and criminal justice.
She will speak and appear with community leaders at Christ the King church, which is led by black clergy, according to a draft schedule seen by the Guardian. Rev Traci Blackmon, the churchs pastor, is a member of the Ferguson commission, a taskforce established by Missouri governor Jay Nixon to tackle the unrest prompted by Browns death.
Clinton has been forthright in discussing disparities in the US, saying last week the country must discuss its long struggle with race. Her remarks on Tuesday are expected to focus on youth employment.

(9,148 posts)This statement is how she will lead this country.
She is far beyond simply speaking what the crowd wants to hear.
She is telling us how she will govern & what direction she will lead America, as our President.

2016 belongs to HRC.
She is much loved by those who matter in our country & much respected abroad.
And no one in the race has a resume of experience to match hers.
No One.
Doesn't surprise me at all that she is visiting Florissant
Their's is the same fight she has been supporting for 40 years. This is who Hillary Rodham Clinton is.

If that is what you mean, then your post is disgusting.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This post is way over the top as far as legitimate criticism of Clinton and criticism of Democrats in general. I have problems with some of her positions too, but to say that "Party politicians are as much to blame as anyone for racism and abusive cops" is just way, way over-the-top and disruptive.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Jun 22, 2015, 02:13 PM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I disagree with this comment too but think that rebuttal and argument rather than banning is the appropriate response.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Dear Alerter, who do you think is responsible for the militarization of our police and the institutionalized racism within our police forces if not politicians?
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Stupid post! I voted to hide. I feel the person is trying to get protestors to show up for only one reason, they hate Hillary.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The poster is speaking to people with legitimate concerns not wanting their movements co-opted. This is not new, it happened to Al Sharpton when he was rebuffed by the family of Eric Garner. Rebut it or shut it.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I disagree with the post, but do not find it disruptive. Disagree in your reply.

(9,289 posts)I know she has called for police body cams, and I think that is a very positive thing. But my guess is that she will avoid talking specifically about the Brown shooting. She can't win on that issue regardless of what she says.

(85,999 posts)...the issue of protesters in Ferguson was and still is police brutality and other abuses. Unemployed youth didn't precipitate the flashpoint for protests; the police shooting of an unarmed man did, coupled with a history in that town of police targeting the black community and black individuals with a wildly disproportionate effort to arrest and fine them to support a cottage industry of cronyism.
I wonder if we'll hear anything about the FBI report? That would be significant and reasonable. Thing is, if there's just a focus on the youth unemployment to the exclusion of the discriminatory practices of their police force, it will be tantamount to blaming unemployed youth for the problems there. Of course, the discrimination and abuses were across the board, affecting all income groups and ages in that town.

Well, she finally addressed Ferguson on Thursday, during a prepared speech, and it turns out that her comments were among the most substantive compared to what other political leaders have said.
Whereas most Democrats and Republicans, and eventually President Obama, addressed the militarization of the police, Clinton actually went there on an issue that most avoided: racism and the criminal justice system.
