Campaign Donations Linked to White Supremacist -the one Dylann Roof liked.

The leader of a white supremacist group that has been linked to Dylann Roof, the suspect in the murder of nine African-Americans in a Charleston, S.C., church last week, has donated tens of thousands of dollars to Republican campaigns, including those of 2016 presidential contenders such as Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum and Rand Paul, records show.
Mr. Cruz, a Texas senator, said Sunday night that he would be returning about $8,500 in donations that he had received from the Texas donor, Earl Holt III, who lists himself as president of the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Snip....Mr. Holt, who identified himself in some donation records as a Texas “slumlord,” has also given money to a number of other current and former Republican members of Congress, including Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona, Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, former Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Representative Steve King of Iowa, and former Representative Todd Akin of Missouri.

Spokesmen for Mr. Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, and Mr. Paul, a senator from Kentucky, did not respond to requests for comment on the donations.

aspects of white supremacy in the South particularly after Brown vs. the Board of Education. The CCC came up and pols were mentioned but not the specific ideology of the group. I read some of the background in the Sourcewatch and SPLC profiles. In my post # 42 here I noted a Cuban American CCC member that Nikki Haley appointed to assist her 2014 re-election but who was forced to resign. Dylan Roof also mentioned the western and Pacific NW Aryan group, Northwest Front based out of Seattle which Thom Hartmann brought up yesterday on his radio program and I looked up online. All disturbingly real and horrible.

for their great work and that of many other organizations looking out for us. Very good that you get SPLC on your FB feed. Richard Cohen, SPLC Pres. was on Lawrence's show along with NAACP legal expert Janai Nelson, a Law Scholar from Duke Univ., journalist Eugene Robinson from South Carolina and others who provided outstanding perspectives and information.
Rachel and Chris Hayes also did good reporting on this topic last night. I've fallen off watching them but will change that esp. during this pivotal election period.

Glad but saddened to see all this come out, recall some of it from the early 90s. The pols. esp. southern ones who are associated with and funded by white supremacist groups are definitely looking out for themselves in this sudden change of heart and call to take down the Confederate battle flag, beyond the nine innocent victims recently killed sorry to say.

Murderer Dylan Roof had a lot of recorded influences and sources that the FBI is examining. Feel the heat. Some southern officials are acting genuinely I believe like SC state Rep. Brannon who lost a good friend and quickly spoke out about the flag removal and others which is very heartening.
Nikki Haley's press conference speech I found to be on the level of a HS student council meeting and quite self congratulatory. Absent was any real depth and tribute to the nine beautiful and innocent people who were massacred and the instigator of their action as Joan Walsh of Salon pointed out.

Like many I hope this horrible event initiates a closer look at the NRA, the terrible US mass shootings, and a major national examination and dialog about repairing the suffering and damage experienced by black people in this country. It's long overdue! We have a Lot of work to do, like an enormous Marshall Plan to rebuild the US as many are calling for.

Have a fine June day this Tuesday!

Conservative Citizens absolutely impacted their decision to remove the State House flag in Charleston. Beyond the nine innocent victims murdered, these pols are definitely and suddenly concerned about their own careers in view of the material in Dylan Roof's manifesto that the FBI is examining.

In 2013 Nikki Haley appointed a nasty, racist CCC member to her 2014 re-election committee, Roan Garcia-Quintana who was forced to resign as I note in post # 42. On The Last Word, MSNBC with Lawrence O'Donnell last night that group and pol donations were covered along with many topics related to white supremacy in the South esp. after Brown v Board.

Killer terrorist Dylan Roof mentioned in his writings the western and pacific NW white Aryan sovereign group, NORTHWEST FRONT that Thom Hartmann brought up yesterday; the website notes HQ in Seattle. All very sickening-

As far back as the 90s, Trent Lott was speaking at CCC events and other prominent politicians were associated with the hate group. The SPLC documented all of this that long ago and only now people are finding out about it. I honestly thought more people on DU already knew this. MSM needs to get on the ball.

and also some about white Aryan groups in places like Idaho and the NW. In 2006 a Pacific NW friend informed me about Prussian Blue, the white Aryan youth music group in the upper west, sick. They disbanded years ago though. And now we have even more crazies like the sovereign citizens, preppers and Apocalypse survivalists since 911.

They said they didn't even really understand what they were representing at the time and that they enjoy ethnic diversity now that they have been exposed to different people of different races.

The CCC ran an ad in my local newspaper against Lollapalooza coming to Rockingham, NC. In the ad, they said the concert would bring in gay people and turn everyone that lives here gay. They seem to hate on several levels. Trying to get local church groups here and local officials to see the CCC are a hate group was like pulling teeth though. They never did believe me. Maybe now, they will get their heads out of their asses and quit cozying up to that group, at least.

There was also an area called the five states where NC, SC, Tenn., Georgia and Alabama connect and almost connect that was full of some of the worst racist hate groups in the country. It's where Eric Rudolph was offered asylum in a church by a preacher and some other people wrote a folk song in favor of what he did.

It has been bad since at least the mid 90s, and the GOP has been cozying up to them all along the way, with no repercussions or boycotts or anything.
