UPDATED 10 a.m.: Sixty-seven fire starts were reported Saturday across the state, on top of the 38 new fires sparked on Friday. The largest new fire in Interior Alaska is burning south of Nenana. Twenty residences were evacuated in what fire officials are calling the Rex Complex.
According to the morning situation report compiled by the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center, the Rex Complex is human caused. It was listed at 3,600 acres. Ninety-three personnel were assigned to the fire.
The Moose Creek fire east of Delta Junction continued to grow, the Fire Service said, but no further details were reported.
