Alabama auditor Jim Zeigler has a message for churchgoers: Bring your gun

In the wake of horrific shootings that claimed nine lives at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, Alabama State Auditor Jim Zeigler has some advice for parishioners: Bring your gun.

On social media posts, Zeigler, a Republican in his first term of office, said "church attendees should pack," when attending services.

"Each church should have a vigilance committee," he added. "Calling 911 and waiting will not work."

Nine people were killed by an armed gunman Wednesday night at a prayer meeting at Emanuel AME Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C. The suspect in the shooting, Dylann Roof, 21, has allegedly confessed to the attack.

The Justice Department's Civil Rights Division is opening a hate crime investigation into the shooting.

If calling 911 won't work, why have the service? Why have officers on call? Just keep a skeleton documentation police service and let the community police itself.
