Toby Keith and NRA: What they say about the Charleston shooting

Toby Keith and NRA: What they say about the Charleston shooting

In the wake of the Charleston mass shooting, Barack Obama is again calling for gun control. But others say stricter gun laws will not make Americans safer.

Country music star Toby Keith said on Thursday that stricter gun laws would not have made a difference in Charleston

“Countries all over the world that have really strict gun policies, like Oslo, Norway. It happens there,” said Mr. Keith probably referring to 2011 shooting and bombing in Norway which killed 77 people.

Keith said that if a police officer had been praying at The Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on Wednesday, "maybe seven or eight of those nine people would still be alive."

What happened in Norway was a RARE event. What happened in Charleston is happening multiple times a year in the U.S.

The only "stricter gun law" that could have prevented Charleston is a compete ban on private ownership of firearms coupled with a program of confiscation of all existing guns in private hands and there is no way in hell that's going to happen. So he's just fear mongering.

As for his statement about a police officer praying at the church, what the fuck does that even mean? "Maybe seven or eight of those nine people would still be alive"? Sure and maybe there would be one dead cop to go along with the nine victims.

Watching and listening to those around us. Since he had some possession charges he should not have been able to pass a background check and should not have a weapon in his possession. Too many times some have blown this off by saying there should have been a person there with a gun but the problem is the wrong people gets their hands on guns.
