To all presidential candidates: Stop campaigning in SC until the Confederate flag is taken down.

Its time presidential candidates stop putting time and money into a state that officially sponsors the display and maintenance of the Confederate flag with state taxpayer dollars.

It's time to send a message but if that message includes losing the election...

And Nixon won the state in both 1968 and 1972

We won't win SC in 2016 unless we're winning the whole country by a blow-out

If all Republicans, but one do it, than that person has the state all to himself during the campaign season.

SC's electoral votes have gone to the GOP in every election since 1980. I say all Democratic candidates should shun the state.

The hell with whatever the GOP does.

It's the US flag, under which a holocaust was perpetrated upon them, completely destroying their way of life.

Do they get the same privilege, of seeing a grossly offensive symbol removed from the halls of government? Or is this particular type of outrage specific to the Confederate flag, ending there full stop?

guess which flag all that was happening under

That's right, it was not the Confederate flag.

I am just stunned at the "beam in thine own eye" phenomenon going on here.

Hell, we have a million slaves - mostly black and Hispanic - right here in the USA, right now, going on under the sanitized term of "prison labor". I'd even wager you have bought the products of this slave labor, such as Starbucks coffee, recently.

Then why do we have a million slaves in US prisons working for corporations today?

Slavery on a mass scale exists in the United States in the here and now, present day. If you sincerely find slavery to be wrong, doesn't that deserve your attention more than a fading symbol of a 150-years-ago rebellion?

Are you not aware of today's slavery, or do you not care? I'm baffled how you ignore this issue while being outraged at a Confederate flag.

Are you at all familiar with what was done by the US government to the Native Americans, done under the US flag in the age before propaganda became an art form?

Was killing 4 million Vietnamese less bad than slavery because we claimed to be "fighting Communism"?

Still not a peep from you about modern-day slavery in the US. Why is it like pulling teeth to get you to even acknowledge that it exists?

And most South Carolina democrats very likely hate the confederate flag.

So democrats would only be hurting themselves by sabotaging their own primary.

Voting would proceed and the delegation seated at the convention. But SC businesses need to feel the bite of decent folks who do not spend money in a state that officially sponsors the flying of the Confederate flag.
