If you purchase from amazon, you should really select a charity for amazon to donate to.
You just have to start logging into smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com.

It's been a while since I selected my charity (Southern Poverty Law Center), but I seem to recall that you sign up for a single charity. They provide a dropdown list, but I didn't want any from that list. I was able to type in Southern Poverty Law Center. Now, when I buy from smile.amazon.com, they let me know a donation has been made to SPLC.
I realize there are issues with buying from amazon, but for those who do, this is a no-brainer. I recommend you use this.

(1,089 posts)After hearing about AmazonSmile several months ago, I've been meaning to sign up for it - was going to select a local animal rescue group. Today, I know my donation needs to go to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
I've already signed up and now that's one less "mean to do" in my life!

(11,833 posts)Another cool thing. Consider birthday and holiday presents in the form of donations to your favorite charity. My family stopped giving each other presents a while back. Sometimes we give cards, indicating a donation to a favorite group. I've done this with SPLC and with the World Wildlife Federations. Their web sites have excellent gift ideas too!
