from 2008: Clinton Touts White Support................

..............Since we're going to "go there"

As if the divisions between race and gender in the Democratic Party hadn’t been further exposed through Tuesday night’s exit polls — and by a very heated exchange on CNN between Donna Brazile and Paul Begala — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s interview with USA Today on Wednesday is further mining those tense depths.

“I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” she said in the interview, citing an article by The Associated Press.

It “found how Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”

“There’s a pattern emerging here,” she said.

While she said her remarks weren’t meant to be divisive, they’re already whipping around the Internet. “These are the people you have to win if you’re a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election. Everybody knows that,” she said in the interview. (Hint, hint, message to the superdelegates still undeclared.)

In Indiana alone, six in 10 white voters went for Mrs. Clinton, where she narrowly won the primary. ................(more)

is the equation between "hard working Americans" and "white Americans." Although that's pretty much what Sanders did too.

This is an area where neither candidate is perfect. Sanders' remarks were insensitive as well, and they were more recent. But I see the candidates as being pretty much equal on social justice issues. He has a great voting record, but I do wish he'd kick it up a notch. Campaign rhetoric can elevate issues on the national stage, so it does good to talk about how important these issues are.

CORE, SNCC and NAACP, probably around the same time as Hillary was attending Republican National conventions.

He spoke out on Ferguson sooner than most. He recently asked his donors to send money to the Emanuel Church community. He's worked for years to make Juneteenth a holiday. His votes got a 97% rating frpm the NAACP.

I don't think they've been equal on this issue at all.

Before you conclude they've been equal and Bernie is the one who needs to step it up, you may want to follow the links in this post.

Where are the anti-Semitic smears against Sanders coming from? Who is lying that he is racist and/or clueless about racism, when he risked his life to fight it?

I don't know.

Who leaked this photo to media during the 2008 primary?

Who leaked the Wright "black liberation theology" tapes to media during the 2008 primary?

Who leaked the "Whitey" story to media during the 2008 primary, saying it would be an October surprise from Republicans if Obama were the Democratic nominee?

I don't know, but I do know how the birther insanity started.

Origins of the claims

During the Democratic Party's 2008 presidential primaries, anonymous e-mails from supporters of Hillary Clinton surfaced that questioned Obama's citizenship in an attempt to revive Clinton's faltering primary election campaign. These and numerous other chain e-mails during the subsequent presidential election circulated false rumors about Obama's origin, religion and birth certificate. [25] [26]

And I do know who went into a Southern accent when she ludicrously compared being a United States Senator in a Republican majority Senate to working on plantation. (I had the honor of having lunch in the gorgeous Senate dining room. I assure you, it's no plantation mess.)

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/01/17/clinton.plantation/

And i do know who allowed a "racially tinged" Democratic Presidential primary campaign strategy, the first I can ever recall from Democrats.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/12/obama-camps-memo-on-clint_n_81205.html

And I do know who identified her constituency as "hard-working" white people.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/08/clinton-obama-not-winning_n_100763.html

To borrow a term from Cuomo, a 2008 primary campaign surrogate, a term that sure seemed surprising from someone born and raised in New York, someone is "shuckin' and jivin" about these issues and it is not Sanders.

I probably argued with her about each dog whistle. Howeever, she did not cave until the "Hard working white people" comment came out of Hillary's own mouth. Then, all she posted was "THERE IT IS:" and a link to the story.

Didn't stop her from turning PUMA, though. Republicans posted on her board. She had been one of the best anti-Bush debaters I've ever seen. After Hillary conceded, she started deleting posts that even included an emoticon critical of Bush.

She had been a Republican until Reagan ran. She didn't like him, so she switched parties. She said she didn't like Obama because he was just like Reagan. Anyway, she switched back after Hillary conceded. She made her board private at the same time. I guess her 180 was embarrassing to her, as well it should be.

17. Benazir Bhutto--Obama blamed her death on Clinton

Jun 2015

Clinton and Ms. Bhutto were friends, and her assassination, that came during our presidential primaries hit Ms. Clinton hard. I recall Clinton looking particularly saddened.

And Obama used that to accuse Ms. Clinton of causing Ms. Bhutto's death.

My point is that the primaries are ugly. The fight causes division and sometimes hits below the belt. We only need to look at DU to see that.

Nothing that Clinton said or did was as bad as that ugly lie told at a time of mourning.

Polling data shows she currently has the overwhelming support of African Americans.
As I said before, black folks will decide who best represents their interests and show it through their votes.
