Homeless man returns purse full of cash to sick single mother

http://www.scrippsmedia.com/ktnv/now-trending/Homeless-man-returns-purse-full-of-cash-to-sick-single-mother-308445521.html

He didn't know where his next meal was coming from, but that didn't stop him from doing the right thing.

A homeless man in Pennsylvania is receiving praise after he returned a purse with almost $400 in it to its owner, a single mother who is on welfare and battling brain cancer.

According to WJAC-TV, the 32-year-old homeless man saw the purse sitting on a State College park bench. He opened the purse and saw the money, along with an Access (medical assistance) card, and knew the owner of the purse was also down on her luck.

The homeless man, who does not want to be identified and did not want to go on camera, contacted a local homeless shelter. They were able to find the woman and return the purse.

Do you think Blankfein, Summers, or any of the other Rubenites would do the same? tech3149 Jun 2015 #2

Not surprising in the least! "Homeless" does not equal "theif" or "degenerate"... Ghost in the Machine Jun 2015 #4

I think not! Their philosophy is more for me good, they got effed? That really sucks.

Just like that. Just like that "I found this cash". When the cops asked him why turn it in he answered "it's the right thing to do".
(this generous man is getting total respect)

Would an average church-going middle-classer from the suburbs for whom $2000 is much less critical do the same?

Once, I dropped $20 from my pocket in an area where only "the poor" exist and the finder ran across the street to return it to me - the finder was very poor, though maybe or maybe not "homeless". "Homeless" is a very loose category.

There are many homeless people who are more honest than the average citizen because they already know what it's like to have nothing and/or lose everything. Now some junkie or crackhead might have kept the money for their next fix, but even some of them wouldn't think of keeping it. Hell, even some "average joe" might have kept it, whereas if the next "average joe" found it, he would have returned it also. It all depends on the morals of the human being, not the way they live. Some people think "hey, free money! If they *really* needed it, they would have held on to it better" while others think "Damn, somebody sure is going to miss this" and check for an ID to try to contact the owner. That's what I did when I found a wallet in the middle of the road a few years ago. I had no intention of keeping the money or trying to use the credit cards, I'm just not built that way.....

Peace,

Ghost
