The sister of former N.C. Sen. Malcolm Graham was one of the nine people killed inside Emanuel AME Church when a white man opened fire during a prayer meeting at the historic black church in downtown Charleston on Wednesday night.
N.C. Sen. Joel Ford, a friend of Grahams, confirmed that the sister was one of the victims and asked the state Senate on Thursday to send a prayer to his family.
As we continue to deliberate public policy lets keep in mind the practical application of that policy, Ford said.
Graham, who is from Charleston, told the Observer early Thursday that his sisters condition was unclear. Police havent officially released the IDs of the victims.

(113,069 posts)Working with DNC down here is getting harder and harder with the increase in power of these rightwing neanderthals filled with contempt towards people of color and women and education.
I hope those in blue states will keep us in mind for the next election cycle. Here in NC, Dems have to claim over 60% of the vote just to run even with those who rigged their way into power and control.
News like this rattles me to my core.
