Goldman Sachs restricts intern workday to 17 hours in wake of burnout death

Go home before midnight, and don’t come back before 7am. Goldman Sachs - one of Wall Street’s toughest firms - has told interns they have got to work hard, but not too hard.

The new rules, introduced for this summer’s crop of investment banking interns, have been introduced “to improve the overall work experience of our interns”, a Goldman Sachs spokesman said. All of its summer interns across the world were informed of the new working hours rule on their first day in the office earlier this month.

Wall Street’s shift to caring capitalism* comes in the wake of the death of a 21-year-old Bank of America Merrill Lynch intern who had regularly pulled all-nighters in a desperate bid to impress his bosses.

Erhardt was found dead in the shower at his London accommodation after working 72 hours straight. An inquest found he died of an epileptic seizure that could have been a triggered by his long working hours.

It gives them plenty of time to sleep well and have a normal social life. What in the world are those kids complaining about?

That leaves three or four hours for a daily nap. What more could any intern ask?

For my evangelical friends voting in the Iowa GOP and NH primaries set to "weed out the field" of President candidate weeds you wil have no choice but to pick one of:

1 Timothy 6:10 ESV / 647 helpful votes

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Proverbs 28:25

A greedy man stirs up strife, but the one who trusts in the Lord will be enriched.

1 Timothy 6: 9

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Hebrews 13:5

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

With the hope of a job that most don't get.
Yet it's all legal.
And no, not for College credit, since many have a already graduated.

Plus halving the workforce by sending women home to work for their own personal lord and master.

No matter how abusive or noble the spouse may be. The GOP supports state and spousal rape, and physical abuse by denying an escape for those women to have social mobility and the means to support themselves outside the home.

The attack on the autonomy of women's lives isn't accidental, and it's not really religious. It is economic, but most people think it's a soft issue. It isn't, as it undergirds oppression. That will eventually spread to those who are not initially affected.

There was full employment for slaves prior to the Civil War. They just weren't paid. That's the plan and their votes in states and the Congress is proof of it.

In their way of thinking, why should such souls be allowed food and housing and education to get ahead? Why grant them the right to vote?

Really, that's what the GOP/ Libertarians are telling millions of Americans. Just shut up and get to work, we don't need your help in running things.

Besides they might vote for their emancipation. Can't have that. It's bad for business.

Apply liberally if anyone needs the icon.
