Could either political party say to a candidate "no thanks, you can't run for our nomination"?

I was just curious because the repukes might want to start kicking a few people off their clown bus.

I'd have loved to see Trump say that he was running for repuke nomination and then the repubs put out a press release that said, "oh hell no you are not".

Repuke state Sen. Mike Gabbard (whose daughter Tulsi is now in Congress) decided to bring his raging homophobia and general nuttiness across the aisle. The Dems actually had to caucus to decide if they wanted him! (He did get in. )

Fortunately, Tulsi seems to take after Mom.
