Rachel Dolezal Sued Howard University for Racial Discrimination in 2002

Not The Onion!!

http://gawker.com/report-rachel-dolezal-sued-howard-university-for-discr-1711464382

Former Spokane NAACP president Rachel Dolezal sued Howard University in 2002 for allegedly discriminating against her because she’s white, according to court documents obtained by the Smoking Gun. Dolezal, who has claimed to be black for several years, said the school refused to hire her for teaching posts and denied her scholarships because of her race.

Dolezal, who went by Rachel Moore then, reportedly filed the suit against Howard and Professor Alfred Smith, the chairman of the university’s art department, in Washington DC’s Superior Court. From the Smoking Gun:

According to a Court of Appeals opinion, Dolezal’s lawsuit “claimed discrimination based on race, pregnancy, family responsibilities and gender.” She alleged that Smith and other school officials improperly blocked her appointment to a teaching assistant post, rejected her application for a post-graduate instructorship, and denied her scholarship aid while she was a student.

The court opinion also noted that Dolezal claimed that the university’s decision to remove some of her artworks from a February 2001 student exhibition was “motivated by a discriminatory purpose to favor African-American students over” her.

I am a melanin deficient Irish-Scottish-English-German human. When I was applying to schools in the late 1960s, it would not have occurred to me that Howard would have wanted me. Are white students encouraged to apply? I checked the demographics on their site, and the percentage of the student body identified as white was 1.4%.

Again, my apologies if these are naive questions, or inappropriate. Or offensive. That is totally not my intention

I suspect she felt the parents paid more attention to the adopted black kids - something is seriously wrong with her.

Out of all the seriously fucked up things that she's done this is the absolute WORST.

First a white person of privilege takes up a spot that could have gone to a minority student at an historically black college, and then she sues them because SHE'S a victim of discrimination?

I'm seriously beginning to wonder if her whole charade could have intentionally been more malicious from the beginning than we might ever suppose it was.

WTF is right! It doesn't sound like she was a wanna-be back in 2002 when she sued Howard.

I've seen this before- mostly at work, some white folks think that they're victims of reverse racism.

A lot of men also whine about how women get special consideration.

I've actually heard them blather on about how nice it must be to have things handed to you because you're a woman or minority.

began mobilizing to take over leadership positions in historically progressive organizations? The teabagger and libertarian types surreptitiously deciding that if ya can't lick 'em, join 'em? A grassroots local sort of movement to destroy liberal groups from the inside out. Like trolls.

Hearing about this lawsuit of hers is really making me wonder now.

But after hearing from her siblings and former classmates and now this, I sincerely doubt she suffers from body dysmorphic disorder.

She decided she would be more successful if she was black so she changed her identity.

"Transracial" my ass.

when I read that same night that after college, she'd moved up to Bonner's Ferry (with her Black hubby) and I thought, what the fuck? You'd need to know some of the dynamics of far Northern Idaho at that time to understand why that info made me go...hmmm.

This is exactly the kind of stunt racists love to use to their advantage.
