"Well, it seems a Republican in Montana, millionaire Greg Gianforte whos likely going to run for governor in 2016 against Democrat Gov. Steve Bullock, not only believes in the story of Noahs ark but hes using Noah as an example for why Americans dont need Social Security.
Theres nothing in the Bible that talks about retirement. And yet its been an accepted concept in our culture today, Gianforte said back in February. Nowhere does it say, Well, he was a good and faithful servant, so he went to the beach. It doesnt say that anywhere.
The example I think of is Noah, he continued. How old was Noah when he built the ark? 600. He wasnt like, cashing Social Security checks, he wasnt hanging out, he was working. So, I think we have an obligation to work. The role we have in work may change over time, but the concept of retirement is not biblical.
Comedy at its finest. Sweet Jesus riding a bike juggling fish (now my favorite phrase).

(14,400 posts)could comprehend the damage he's done by getting rich using all those Satanic computers that also were not mentioned in the fucking bible.
How fucking stupid can you possibly be? This loser is definitely rolling around down near the bottom of that particular barrel.

(23,156 posts)I'll start with anyone stupid or gullible enough to believe that people actually lived for 600 years at any time in the past is hardly worth noticing.
The Bible doesn't mention all sorts of things. Telephones, diapers, okra, penguins. The list goes on and on. If I were some sort of believer, I'd be inclined to think the commandment about honoring fathers and mothers could cover Social Security.
Worse yet, the Bible mentions, with some approval I believe, all sorts of things we don't hold with today. Like slavery. Certain rules about food, although there's a subgroup of Bible believers (Jews) who tend to follow those rules, although not all Jews do.
I guess this guy is quite bothered by the idea that anyone at all might live past a point when he or she can do physical labor.
Cats are not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. I sometimes wonder if references to cats might have been edited out during the "Burning Times".

(23,156 posts)I've gotten so I really don't like dogs very much, but I'm not about to suggest confiscating all dogs. I do suggest confiscating all guns, which is an oddly unpopular idea, can't begin to figure out why. (Need a thingy here that indicates exactly why I understand why others don't like my idea, but readers here should get it.) But dogs. People can keep their dogs so long as they keep them from barking all the time.

(39,215 posts)entered into the world nature was one of the victims and weeds started to grow. And life expectancy was drastically effected.
Apparently he only believes the parts he wants to believe. When we can live to be 600 years old and still be in working condition then maybe he can say we do not need social security. And since he is such a good Christian I think he should refuse to collect it when he is old.
BTW I suspect he is not going to get elected. Even in Montana they want to be able to collect their social security.
