Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsJoey Scar's panties in a wad early this morning. The new Obama campaign ad has hit
home and hard re Bain Capital. It is a tough and to the point ad with former workers and they tell the story of how Bain, under Romney, came in and dumped the company. Employees lost their jobs, etc. Joey is just so outraged that the campaign would select this story for an ad against Romney. It's capitalism and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and on and on. The ad is spot on, very powerful and made Joey very upset. I liked it very much.

Uh, Joe, you fucking idiot...Karl Rove practically invented this. It goes back to Lee Atwater and beyond. Poor, poor Joe...Democrats are finally playing GOP-style hardball, and Joe is beside himself.
It's quite humorous to watch, because every one of the usual-suspect GOP panelists is telling him "get over it...it's politics." Mark Halperin even closed the last segment with a very sarcastic "let's just go down to the park and play beanbags."
Joe HATES getting beat up on his own show!

No Jo, you can not draw a false equivalence between THIS and Rovian tactics. Feel free to draw an equivalence when Obama's operatives ask some billionaire asshole to start a SWIFTBOAT campaign against Romney, telling a bunch of lies, and then when his reputation is in ruins, appoint the son of a bitch to be Ambassador to Belgium during a recess as payola.

Meanwhile, Scarborough was acting like this was a new political attack, but its been around forever and he knows it. It was used against Romney when he ran for governor and again in 2008 primaries. Joe seemed to be very alone in his opinions this morning.

Joe is so lazy, he doesn't care if they have to go to break or introduce the next guest because he knows she will do it. Mika gets a lot of crap from viewers, but she is quite a different person when the bully isn't there.
Oh yes, the Deutsch/Scarborough face-offs are such fun to watch. Joe often walks right into it, forgetting he's not king of all he surveys!

It's May. Most people are thinking about the summer, cook-outs, summer movies, and trying to get jobs or about vacations.
Attacking Romney about his labor issues on Labor Day would be more effective.

Better to begin defining Rmoney in Dem. terms than to allow him to do it himself.
New and even more hard-hitting "predatory capiltalist" ads will certainly appear during the fall race to the finish line.

Define Romney early and never let him off the mat.
The Bain Vampire Capitalist theme does fit quite well with the Romney as bully boy from last week.
Romney excels at preying on the weak and vulnerable and protecting the wealthy and privileged - along with enforcing conformity to what he finds acceptable.
Some US workers had hair that was "too long" - pensions too big, wages too high, union or worker protections too strong - so Romney and the Bully Boys at Bain Capital just held them down and cut their hair. Now they want everyone to call them heros for it. Not going to happen.

(17,197 posts)Hell, the Obama campaign doesn't have to PAY to have it shown on the show -- they're doing it for FREE!
When the company did well, Bain made money. Fair enough.
When the company did poorly, or went bankrupt, Bain STILL made money. That's where the dissonance comes in.
When Bain took control, they'd wind up taking out loans to pay dividends to themselves, first and foremost. Then, when the company couldn't deal with the debt load, Bain would just let it go bankrupt. Hey, they got THEIRS.

So if that was a "teaching moment," what the hell were they taught? Looks like NOTHING...just try to be more secretive.

(13,081 posts)At least that I saw, his only criticism of the ad was "But that's how capitalism works! Someone's gotta get screwed!" and "Romney didn't do anything illegal!"
He seems to believe that saying "Bain Capital did x, y, and z" is somehow unfair. He also feels sorry for the workers -- not the ones that Romney fired, because, hey, that's just capitalism -- bit that they were "used" by the Obama campaign for cheap political "demagoguery."
His last screw is seriously loose.
