Krugman nails a good one...

I noticed Joe Scarborough was, shall we say, unusually reserved today on the opening segment of Morning Joe. After Hillary's speech, I think he's pretty much convinced a republican will lose again to a Democrat in the next presidential. And that Democrat will be further to the left than in much of recent history when Dems felt they had to appeal to a largely mythical right of center "independent."

Poor ole Joe...he pushed that mythical narrative for years on his show and now we are seeing some clear trendlines proving him wrong. He rode a wave that is quickly disappearing from under him...

came back on his show today after having been skewered (probably not) on it in an earlier appearance. Yeah, so brave to come on the show and lie through your teeth about recent political history. I hope somebody comes on the show tomorrow and straightens out her LIES....

3. "Hillary Clinton’s unexpectedly liberal/populist campaign-launching speech on Roosevelt Island."

This has been a weekend for political surprises. First, of course, was the shocking rejection of TPP by House Democrats. Second was Hillary Clinton’s unexpectedly liberal/populist campaign-launching speech on Roosevelt Island.

What was the third? The pundit reaction to HRC’s speech, which so far, as I read it, has been mostly … positive.

Those of us who remember past campaigns have operated under the working assumption that Clinton Rules will apply in this campaign — that on any question of behavior or motivation Hillary will be assumed guilty, held to standards nobody else faces, accused of mendacity even when the facts clearly support her. It’s still a good guess that coverage will revert to type.

But first-round commentary on yesterday’s speech was remarkably OK, even appreciative of the policy substance. It’s very strange. What’s going on?

and the way she moved deftly to the left time and again in her speech. Maybe some people were surprised. I wasn't because I saw what was happening leading up to this. But then I'm on DU where we pay attention. Still the roll out was pretty good, I must say as a Bernie supporter...
